A Goldendoodle is a cross between a Poodle and Golden Retriever and has been in creation since the 1990’s. It was bred as a companion dog they have been used for therapy dogs, guide dogs and other assistance type dogs. They are known for their hallmark teddy bear look and personality and have quickly gained popularity because they are as sweet as they look.
Goldendoodles are extremely social dogs. They love people as well as other animals and are known for being non aggressive. As both the Poodle and the Golden Reyriever are ranked in the top 4 for being the smartest breeds, you really can’t go wrong with this hybrid.
There are many generations to choose from and while is can become confusing, the later the generation, typically, the more poodle the doodle contains! Their gorgeous coats will often lend to less shedding, and this largely why it is such a popular breed. Those who struggle with allergies can often tolerate the Goldendoodle because it is hypoallergenic. This coat does require grooming just as it’s Poodle counterpart does.
Another wonderful fact about this breed is the vast array of color and sizes. The poodle lends to rainbow display: apricot, red, chocolate, black, white, cream, silver, parti and merle. The sizes you will find typically run as mini being 20-35lbs. Medium being 36-54lbs and standards being 55lbs and larger.
Bernedoodles are just so beautiful and we are excited to be adding them to our program in 2022! They are the cross between a Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog. The Bernese Mountain Dog are described as:
- Good natured
- Self Assured
- Placid toward strangers
We feel these are character traits that will make them fantastic family dogs and well suited for people with children. Because of their tendencies to be a little aloof, be prepared to socialize these kids and often!
We have added an F1 male and a F1b female. They are not related and we hope to create multigens for you. We hope you are as excited as we are!
The Cockapoo is another Poodle mix. Interestingly, it is thought to be the oldest designer breed. It is half Cocker Spaniel, the beloved dog from the Disney film, Lady and the Tramp with hauntingly beautiful eyes and gorgeous long ears. This breed is certainly popular with good reason.
We love that they are ridiculously happy. They make the perfect companion breed and they are most often breed to miniature or toy poodles, making them perfect for smaller living spaces.
They bear many of the same qualities as other poodle mixes. They are also hypoallergenic and as they are later in generation, shed less and less. This also makes them a benefit to those needing a pet that will not cause allergies to flare.
They will typically weigh 10-30 pounds and come in a wide variety of colors, just as many as a Poodle: apricot, red, chocolate, black, white, cream, silver, parti and merle.
